The recent lock-down of Wuhan city has made it difficult to ship medical supplies to the hospitals. At this critical moment, these hospitals are in great need of protective clothing, goggles, and especially the N95 masks while they are fighting the hard battle against the coronavirus. According to the online Chinese media, some of the hospitals in Wuhan will run out of medical equipment within 3-5 days.
These include the key hospitals like Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Affiliated Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as HUST Union Hospital), Hubei Provincial Children’s Medical Center, Central South Hospital of Wuhan University, Wuhan Central Hospital, Wuhan Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, Wuhan Number Three Hospital, and People’s Hospital of Wuhan University People’s Hospital. There have been announcements asking for donations of the following protective materials from all walks of life: goggles, N95 masks, surgical masks, disposable medical masks, medical caps, protective clothing, surgical gowns, impact-proof eye masks, protective masks, and other materials.
The screenshots below are the SOS of doctors in those hospitals that are in desperate need of the supplies.
Doctor: I don’t understand why our hospital did nothing about the request of supplies, but other hospitals have already done that. Is it obvious that we need these urgently?
Anonymous: We are willing to donate supplies to you. However, the lock-down has made it impossible to send anything into the city.
Doctor: It is so easy to put the request on the homepage of our website, and the publicity department does not want to do it.
Anonymous: sh*t. Several of my classmates even came to ask me whether it is true or not. They also attempted to call but the calls didn’t make it through. We can’t do anything about it.
Doctor: Horrible! We are the so-called designated hospital, and we have nothing! That is ridiculous! I can’t believe that our publicity department sat there, doing nothing. How hard is that to make a powerpoint to let people know what we need!
Doctor: Dear blogger, how are you? I am a doctor from the Wuhan Number 5th Hospital. Can you tell us whether you still have the medical supplies? Please, HELP US!
Doctor: We felt being abandoned, and we can’t do anything. All the donations were made only to those big hospitals, but we have been actively taking care of patients with pneumonia all the time. The medical personnel fighting at the front-lines were nearly on the verge of a breakdown. Most of them wore those thin and disposable masks. It is so hard for us to continue our work.
Doctor: Could you please reply to my messages? Thanks.
