Heavy Police Deployment at Anti Parallel Trading Rally, followed by Mass Arrests

Hong Kong – The organizer announced the participagion of at least 10,000 people in the rally against Chinese parallel trading activities in Sheung Shui, Hong Kong.

Despite the letter of no objection granted, large numbers of riot police and masked plainclothes were deployed along the route of the march; whenever any demonstrators stray from the designated route, they raised the blue flag of unlawful assembly warning.

Chief Superintendent Rupert Dover, Acting regional commander of New Territories South, is on site and in charge of the heavy police deployment.

Before the letter of no objection expired, police started to arrest civilians en masse.
