Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Hong Kong Secretary for Education revealed to “Shanghai Observer”, affiliated to the Communist Party newspaper Jiefang Daily, that “the [Hong Kong] bureau requested publishers to hand in relevant textbooks for review.”
In September 2019, Hong Kong Education Bureau rolled out a “professional consultation” service for publishers to voluntarily submit textbooks on senior secondary Liberal Studies to the Bureau for review.
The Bureau would send their comment on potential revision to the publishers, hoping that students would be able to use the amended material by September 2020. The Bureau would also announce on the website about the amendments made by publishers, listing clearly if they accepted and carried out the suggestions from the Bureau.
