Over 600 Hong Kong residents arrested in the mainland in the first 10 months of 2019

Hong Kong’s Secretary for Security John Lee revealed during a Q&A session with the legislators that according to the mutual reporting mechanism between Hong Kong and the Chinese Authorities, in the first 10 months of this year, China has made 799 notifications regarding the use of compulsive enforcement measures on Hong Kong residents.

611 Hong Kong residents are suspected of crimes concerning the usage of drugs, fraud, and smuggling. However, the statistics do not reveal whether there had been any instances of arrest concerning participation in demonstrations.

However, in August this year, the former staff member of the British Consulate General in Hong Kong, Simon Cheng, was detained by Shenzhen police for 15 days accusing of a prostitute but does not match the facts. It can be seen that he denied those Hong Kong people’s arrestment has nothing to do with protests is untenable.
