23 Year Old HK Student Sentenced to 12 Months Imprisonment

During Halloween last year, the second mensiversary of 831 Prince Edward attack, the public gathered to demand for a thorough investigation and protest against the anti-mask bill.

A 23-year-old student previously pled guilty to Possession of offensive weapon in public place on that day. On 18 May, he was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment from the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts.

Background reports showed that the suspect revealed he plans to continue participating in protests after his sentence, thereofre, he was deemed unrepentent and considered as antisocial personality disorder.

The defense objected, arguing the probation officer is not a psychological or psychiatric professional and thus that characterisation should not be accepted in court.
