After midnight, police arrested Lai-king Cheng in her home. Cheng is a Democratic Party member and the Central and Western District Council chairlady.
She was known for her support of an inquiry police brutality and her order to expel police officers without identification number in a meeting when the police commissioner Chris Tang was also present in the council.
Although the Hong Kong police have not yet announced the cause of her arrest, China-funded newspaper Ta Kung Pao gave some clues one day ago by accusing Cheng of violating the court’s interim injunction to ban the publication of police information.
Cheng shared a Facebook post which contained information of the suspected officer who shot an Indonesian reporter in the eye during a protest in Hong Kong.
What does “one country two systems” mean when HK police action is explained by a China-funded newspaper?
